A redevelopment plan for the Gownship Yard has been developed that will modernize the yard and hopefully help attract future orders.

This will allow ships to be built entirely indoors and to cover shipbuilding operations.

“The BAE will need to demolish the listed building.

He said the development would be good or for on-site shipbuilding and manpower that would be able to work indoors.

He said: “The facilities built in the 1980s are not ideal for building modern warships. It is better than the current situation.

However, he wants the BAE to preserve the legacy and. History In some ways.

Sweeney added: “It could be scrapped and relocated or it could be put forward as part of a new development.”

He added: “I am talking to BAE and we have had a positive discussion about resolving the issue of building safety.

“It will have to come down, but we need a proper way to save it.”

The BAE said the future of the A-listed engine works is something that will be part of the consultation and discussions are underway on a suitable solution.

BAE had a previous plan to build a فری 200 million frigate factory in Scotstone with indoor ship halls, which was later abandoned.

The Govan project is nowhere near the scale of a frigate factory, but it will modernize operations south of the river.

A spokesman for BAE Systems said: “An investment program is already underway to improve the infrastructure that enables the Royal Navy to secure the design, construction and commissioning of complex warships in Glasgow.

“As part of this activity, we are looking for more opportunities to modernize our facilities and ensure that we are in the best position to meet current and future customer commitments.”

An online consultation will begin and it is expected that interested parties will be able to view the projects on the website from mid-December to mid-January.

There is no price for the proposed development yet.
