Good morning Arsenal fans.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta admits the top four are losing momentum after losing to Southampton at St Mary’s.
Arteta told Sky Sports: “It’s hard to explain because this is football, not basketball. In any other sport, you win very comfortably.”
“At the end of the day, everything was decided in the free throws, they scored one goal, we didn’t score, for the amount of time we spent in the penalty area, for those clear chances that we had, we didn’t convert them in the goal. because they have an exclusive purpose [and] today we have an exceptional goalkeeper, and because we lacked the skill to break them.
“Certainly, [lost impetus] and we need to find a way to win football matches. What we can do is play our best to get the team as close as possible to winning football matches - today we did it again. The stats will say, “Why the hell did we lose this game?” but the reality is that we lost it.”
Arteta also praised Granita Xhaca for how he dealt with his broken relationship with some of the fans.
The Spanish tactician said: “I think he just expressed his feelings and said, ‘This is how I feel about the situation.’
“He did it in a way that I probably haven’t seen before.
“He got a lot of support from everyone here inside and I think the fans have also been very supportive.
“Over the past year, the situation has changed a lot. They were exceptional with the team and they were very good with him individually and what I felt in the atmosphere and support for him is very positive.”
Meanwhile, Arsenal are leading the race for Napoli star Victor Osimhen in the summer.
Osimhen has been closely linked with retiring from Serie A after another prolific season.
The Gunners are reportedly battling Manchester United for the signing of a centre-forward, with Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Edinson Cavani facing an uncertain future.
However, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, North Londoners are leading the race for the Nigerian national team.
Finally, Arsenal face competition from Newcastle and five other European clubs for Torino ace Gleison Bremer.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, “everyone wants to sign” Bremer ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Gunners and Magpies are looking to secure the centre-back for next season.
But Juventus, Inter and Napoli are also determined to get the top ranked Brazilian.
