In a bizarre accident in the Indian state of Maharashtra, a man who wanted to build a helicopter and bring fame to his village was killed by a prototype after one of the blades cut his throat.
Sheikh Ismail Sheikh Ibrahim, 24, from Phalswangi village in Mahagaon tehsil of Yatmal district, wanted to do something extraordinary to brighten the name of his village after dropping out of school. Abraham dropped out of school after eighth grade and began working in his older brother’s gas welding workshop, where he mastered the art of making Elmira, coolers and other household items. Wanting to do something weird, he started collecting information on YouTube about how to build a helicopter. It took him two years to assemble the parts alone, but he eventually welded the steel pipes to make a prototype of a single-seat helicopter and used the Maruti 800 engine to power it.

Ismail named his flying machine “Manna Helicopter”, and was planning to show it to fellow villagers on India’s Independence Day on August 15. Friends, as before, all trials were successful.
He and his friends gathered near their workshop on Tuesday to check the prototype. The man, who according to his friends always wore a helmet and earphones during his other trials, left safety on this terrible night.
Ismail started the engine from the pilot seat and the wings of the rotor blade began to move rapidly. However, the tail rotor blade suddenly exploded from the body and collided with the upper main blade. A broken blade cut his throat, causing him to fall to the ground.
His friends took him to a nearby hospital, but he died before he could be treated.
“Before anyone could understand what was happening, a piece of broken blade cut Ishmael’s throat and he fell to the ground,” recalls Abla, a friend present at the trial. The incident was captured on a video circulating on Twitter.
