Alan Cumming received an honorary doctorate from the Royal Conservatoire of Glasgow.

Scottish actor Alan Cumming returned to the roots of his drama school today to receive an honorary doctorate from the Royal Conservator. Scotland.

The Instinct Star’s honorary doctorate of drama was presented at a small and intimate ceremony in Glasgow under strict covert safety rules.

It was filmed for a special video segment that will be unveiled at the Winter Graduation Ceremony at the Royal Conservatory of Scotland on Thursday, October 21.

The 56-year-old actor accepted the honor with the performance of his new cabaret show Alan Cumming that he is not celebrating his age at the Edinburgh International Festival this weekend.

He said: “I am very excited to receive this honorary doctorate today. I came here to study 36 years ago and I feel like I belong here.

“The spirit of this institution has made me the actor I am today.

“Three years of training and development techniques is very special – as I get older, I realize how important this training has been and the confidence I have gained here has put me in a better position.

“I really like that I went to college here in Glasgow – it allowed me to make mistakes, learn and laugh.”

Professor Jeffrey Sharkey, Principal Professor at the Royal Conservator of Scotland, said: “We welcome Alan Cumming back to RCS.
