The same thing happened this week to a young couple who lost 182 million euros in jackpots – When he realized that his winning ticket had not been paid.
Rachel Kennedy, 19, and Liam Macrohan, 21, of Hertfordshire, were “absolutely heartbroken” when they realized their normal numbers had come, but they didn’t win.
Before all seven digits appeared in Friday’s draw, the pair played winning numbers of 6, 12, 22, 29, 33, 6 and 11 for five consecutive weeks.
Rachel’s account was set up automatically to buy EuroMillions tickets with her usual numbers, but because she did not have the right funds in her account, the ticket was not paid.
“I called thinking I had won 2 182 million and he said yes you got the right number but you didn’t have the funds in your account to pay for the ticket so it didn’t go.” Rachel said.
