A LOCAL Mount Florida resident has called for more public toilets on Hampden match days after admitting he was appalled by the ‘streams of urine’ he witnessed after Sunday’s Old Firm clash.
The National Stadium hosted two Scottish Cup semi-finals over the weekend, with Hearts beating Hibs and Rangers beating Celtic.
It was the first time in history that four rivals from major cities reached the top four in the last competition.
It made for an interesting weekend, but local resident Alex Cahoun, who is disgusted, believes the scenes only highlighted the need for more portable toilets on match days - and at all of Hampden’s big events like concerts.
When asked about the problem, he said Go Radio: “Not just on matchdays, but anytime there is a big event.
“People obviously go there to have fun and it seems like a good atmosphere.
“But sometimes it’s like a stream of urine, A LOT.
“We were thinking that something like Porta-potties or Portaloos is a good idea.
“I don’t have survey data to support this or anything like that, but if you give people the choice to urinate in the toilet or in my neighbors hedge, nine times out of ten they will choose the toilet.
“The other day was especially bad because it was very beautiful and people came very early to drink.
“It really suits me – I don’t care about it, but it’s just urination and garbage.
“It can be like a very bad smell.
“You have this and all the makings of police horses and all that rubbish.
“And you know, it gets a little Dickensian.

“It just starts to get really disgusting.
“Hampden usually does a good job of cleaning up after him, but today it looks pretty disgusting.”
