Train services in Glasgow were affected as emergency services responded to the Carthage incident.

Transport police were called to the Cartier station this evening following concerns over the welfare of a member of the public.

Emergency services were called to the East End and the service was stopped at around 6 pm on Cumbernold between Malangawi and Motherwell, and trains were temporarily halted.

The nature of the incident is not yet clear, but passengers have been warned to expect some disruption when services resume.

A spokesman for the British Transport Police said: “The British Transport Police were called to Cartwright Railway Station, Glasgow this evening at 5.43pm following concerns about the well-being of a woman.

“Officers attended, and the woman was taken to safety.”
