The White House rejected Trump’s request for privileges on the Jan. 6 documents

In a letter issued Wednesday, Reims wrote: “President Biden has considered the former president’s claim, and I have held additional consultations with the Office of the Legal Adviser in the Department of Justice. Has been [sic] In an earlier letter, the president maintained that the claim of executive discrimination was not in America’s best interests, and therefore none of the documents provided to the White House on September 8, 2021, was valid.

“Accordingly, President Biden does not uphold the former president’s privilege claims.”

According to legal experts, only the current president (Biden) has the authority to grant communications or documents related to executive privileges. And, given that a large portion of the committee’s members are Democrats, it remains to be seen whether the former president can pull himself out of the fox hole.
