Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Manchester United from Juventus in the last days of the summer transfer window. Massimiliano Allegri is said to have been angrily told by the Portuguese forward’s approval of the sale of Juventus that he would be in Turin this season.
Allegri returned to take charge of Andrea Pirlo this summer, to restore his place at the top of Italian football. Inter Milan won the Serie A title in 2021, defeating Juventus, who had won the title in the previous nine seasons.
According to the Daily Mail., Italian managers are angry with club president Andrea Agnelli and sporting director Federico Chirobini Ronaldo allowed to leave the club. He made it clear to management that the departure of the five-time Ballon d’Or winner was not part of the deal when he accepted the club’s offer.
Allegri will now have to replace Ronaldo’s goals from last season. The Portugal captain was the top scorer in Serie A despite leading Juventus to the title or knocking them out of the round of 16 in the Champions League.
Juventus signed Moise Kean on the last day of the transfer window from Everton to replace Ronaldo, but it remains to be seen whether the young Italy international can fill the gap left by the Portuguese star. The Serie A giants also signed Euro 2020 star Manuel Lucatelli from Sassuolo, a weak transfer window for the club.
Juventus suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Empoli in Serie A before the international break and Allegri was asked about Ronaldo’s departure. While the manager praised Portugal International for its goal partnership, he made it clear that the club needed to move forward and look forward.
“Cristiano spent three years at Juventus, he scored goals, in which he is very good, he is an extraordinary player, but we can’t think of Ronaldo anymore,” Allegri said.
