Good Morning Britain’s Susanna Reid says she has not seen Pierce Morgan since the show’s explosive exit.
The 50-year-old presenter talks about the moment his co-host left the set in one of the most unusual TV scenes – and then left.
Pierce stood down instead of apologizing for his disbelief in Meghan Markle’s mental health claims – Off-Com ruled on Thursday that she was entitled to air.
Talking to Mail. The weekend“It felt unreal when Pierce got up and left,” Susanna explained.
“I went out to talk to him. We had a lively discussion. I don’t remember what I said. It’s all blurred now, but he came back.”
He added: “I didn’t think he would really leave the show.”
But the star, who appeared with a rotating cast of co-hosts, including Richard Medley and Adil Ray, insisted he would not return.
He said: “He hasn’t left ITV – he’s still doing life stories. But no, he won’t be back on the GMB couch.”
The interview reveals that Susanna, who says she and Pierce call and text regularly, did not meet.
However, he has invited her to meet him for a “boozy” dinner or lunch when “the dust will settle”.
Pierce had earlier said in an aerial commentary on Susanna’s departure in March: “Gee, even my real ex-wife speaks more lovingly of me than she does.”
Writing in his mail on Sunday’s column, he explained that he had shared a phone call to clean the air.
He wrote: “He apologized for his cold farewell tone, for all the reasons I doubted, and I apologized for leaving him suddenly in trouble.
“It was a good conversation, and we agreed that when the dust settles, we will have a long lunch to celebrate five extraordinary years.”
