Soccer Aid 2021: How To Watch And Celebrate

Wayne Rooney, Usain Bolt and Sir Mo Farah are among the stars who will be participating in Soccer Aid this weekend.

The event was co-organized by singer Robbie Williams in 2006 with the children’s charity UNICEF, where England XI and the rest World Eleven competes in an 11-a-sde game to raise money.

Former professional footballers and celebrities form teams.

Fans are allowed to re-enter in person after being behind closed doors last year.

How to watch Soccer Aid?

Soccer Aid is taking place for the first time this year at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium, which is usually Manchester United’s Old Trafford.

The kick-off is Saturday, September 4 at 7:30 p.m.

The game is being shown on ITV with coverage starting at 6.30 pm.

With Alex Scott, general presenter Dermott O’Leary is leading the coverage.

Who is playing

Many notable former professionals are leaving for England this year, including Wayne Rooney, Paul Schulz and Jamie Kerger.

Big names include Olympic gold medalist long distance runner Sir Mo Farah, Olympic gold medalist gymnast Max Whitlock and YouTuber Chunks.

The rest of the former World XI professionals include Roberto Carlos, Nigel de Jong and Rivaldo.

From his celebrities, Usain Bolt is the biggest name in the group, having appeared in the last few football aids.

Line of Duty actor Martin Compston, presenter Ore Odoba and singer Tom Greenon are also on the field.

Who is managing the teams?

Former England manager Swain Goran-Eriksen will take charge of the three lines, with Robbie Williams, Micah Richards and David Seaman forming the coaching staff.

Meanwhile, former Tottenham, Portsmouth and QPR boss Harry Redknapp will lead the rest of the team, with Judy Murray and Ruby Kane coaching staff.

Can you buy a ticket?

Almost all tickets have been sold out, but at the time of writing there are still some limited areas available in the stadium’s Category 5 area.

There are one or two tickets left at Colin Bell Stand, South Stand and East Stand.

They cost 21 euros for adults and 10.50 pounds for those under 16, but if you still want to get into the sport, you’ll need to get them quickly.

Who won last time?

The 2020 match ended in a 1-1 draw, with Robbie Kane opening the scoring for the rest of the world (RoW) before YouTuber Young Philly equalized.

It went to a penalty, RoW won 4-3, Chunks missed a decisive spot kick.

England also lost the 2019 version on penalties, so we will return to winning ways this weekend.
