A THUG who beat up his female partner is facing jail after being barred from an anti-violence course – because his victim is changing gender.
A court heard that the gender reassignment meant that Stuart Todd, 40, would not be eligible for therapy as an alternative to detention.
The bizarre decision came after the beast confessed to attacking 34-year-old Nicky Smart at his home in Larbert, Sterlingshire, in August.
Todd was referred to the Caledonian Men’s Program, which aims to reduce the damage caused to women by male domestic abuse.
But when he appeared in Falk Sheriff’s Court for sentencing, his lawyer, Stephen Biggam, explained: “My client’s partner is moving from woman to man.
“It simply came to our notice then that Mr Todd had been barred from the Caledonian project.
“The computer says ‘no’.”
Prosecutor Katie Cunningham described how Job repeatedly punched and threatened to kill Nikki and herself.
Todd acknowledged the growing internal attacks and breaches of the peace.
The sentence was adjourned until next month and bail continued.
