AUSTIN – Texas Controller Glenn Hager reminded families that enrollment in the state’s prepaid college tuition program, the Texas Tuition Promise Fund, began Wednesday and will continue through February. 28.
The Texas Tuition Promise Fund offers parents and loved ones the opportunity to pay for a child’s future higher education at today’s prices, excluding medical and dental institutions at public colleges and universities in Texas.
“This is a great time to think about the Texas Tuition Promise Fund account, which provides an additional tool to help families plan for their children’s future education,” Hager said. “Today’s plan is a great way to put your child on the path to college education. The sooner you start saving, the cheaper it can be.
Project participants purchase “tuition units” that can later be used for undergraduate residential tuition at public colleges and universities in Texas, excluding medical and dental institutions, and for the required fees throughout the school. Prices are based on the expenditure of government colleges and universities in the state for the 2021-22 academic year.
Type I tuition units, which cost گری 164.12 per unit at the most expensive Texas public four-year university or college for undergraduate residential tuition and school-wide fees.
The average cost of Type II tuition units, undergraduate residential tuition, and the required school-wide fees at Texas public four-year universities and colleges will be $ 112.59 per unit.
The average cost of Type III tuition units, district tuition weights, and the required school-wide fees at Texas Public Two-Year Community Colleges will be $ 29.15 per unit.
Under the plan, 100 tuition units equals approximately one academic year, including 30 semester hours of undergraduate residential tuition and the required school-wide fees at Texas Public Schools, which is closer to the tuition unit’s pricing base. Participants can purchase 600 Type I tuition units – approximately six academic years – or the equivalent of a Dollar Type II or III tuition unit.
The plan has flexible payment options with each agreement, including unilateral payment, installment payment which includes 6% interest charge or as a payment. There is a فیس 25 application fee for all types of contracts, and housing requirements apply in Texas.
The pay-as-you-go option allows participants to gradually add more tuition units as the family budget allows for tuition based on unit prices at the time of purchase. The purchase of at least one tuition unit of any kind is required for entry into the pay contract. Future payments can be as low as $ 15. An online calculator provides pricing estimates based on the type and number of tuition units currently required for a two- or four-year Texas public college or university.
