“I’m just focusing on what’s going on with my club, and I care about what’s going on with me and my club, and that’s what I want to do.”

Nigeria was also quick to appreciate the impact of working under Gers Gaffer Steven Gerrard as he could now be deployed to midfield.

“It’s helping me grow as a player,” he said.

“I understand different positions, what to do in some positions on the pitch is great for me and it helps me progress as a player.
