A local beauty queen celebrates after being recently crowned Miss Royal Britain.
Nicole Anderson, from Cumberland, became the first Scottish contestant to win the title at the Royal Glasgow Final in Manchester last month.
The 28-year-old will travel to the United States next year to compete in the World Cup, hoping to be nominated for the Royal International.
He said: “I haven’t registered it yet. It’s been a whirlpool but I’m completely on the moon.
For the past two years, Nicole has been working in recruitment, specializing in bringing doctors and nurses to Scottish wards.
It wasn’t until her father passed away tragically last year that she forced herself to take her passion on stage.
“He put a lot of things into perspective for me.”
“My first competition was shortly after my father’s death in 2020. I pushed myself and I actually came in fourth.
“It was a big surprise. I wanted to see how I could do it.
I was honestly on the moon in July when my name was called for the top three. I couldn’t believe it at all.
It was like a dream when I was crowned. I’m still very happy ”
Although the queen of impressive competitions has come a long way, she says she still has a long way to go before she can fly in July 2022.

“I have a lot of work to do before 2022 to prepare. I wouldn’t have the crown if it weren’t for Rachel – she’s helped me every step of the way,” she said.
“If I could come home after adding him to the top five, I would be very happy. It’s so unrealistic that he’s been brought here.
And before he goes to the United States, Nicole is determined to work on her Glasgow accent.
She laughed: “I keep saying that I should start learning to speak a little so that they can understand my rough accent.”
“I’m excited to meet all the talented girls who will be participating. That’s what makes the experience.”
