Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are silent because of the royal stench – from a large cannabis factory.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex live just minutes from the base of a legal hay factory in Santa Barbara, California.
The couple’s 11-million-pound mansion is just a stone’s throw away from 20 large greenhouses full of plants.
Neighbors have now filed a series of complaints, prompting the company to install a new “odor control system.”
One resident complained that the stench was so bad that he had to pull over while driving on the road.
The factory is a 10-minute drive from the Montecito mansion, where the couple lives with their son, Archie, and two-and-a-half-month-old daughter, Llebette.
Gregory Gandrod, a 60-year-old local, spoke about the new odor prevention measures. Sunday MirrorThis is good news for us, and Harry and Meghan.
“The stench was getting stronger and they were walking. I was driving on the freeway and was badly affected by the stench. I had to pull.
“It completely made me lose my train of thought. A lot of people here are in trouble.”
‘Band wagon jumped’
Another neighbor, Richard Maynards, added: “Growing cannabis near here became legal in 2016 and many farmers jumped on the bandwagon.”
Both the Santa Barbara Coalition of Responsible Cannabis and the Cannabis Association for Responsible Producers have promised a “new odor response process.”
Harry, 36, had previously confessed to smoking as a teenager and was sent to a one-day drug rehab clinic by Prince Charles at the age of 17.
His wife, Meghan, 40, allegedly gave guests a pair at their first wedding in Jamaica – where drugs are legal – in 2011.
Last year, the couple moved out of the home of film producer Tyler Perry and bought a nine-bed property after taking out a 25 7.25 million mortgage and some financial support from Prince Charles.
Insiders at the time claimed that they wanted to make it their permanent home after living in Windsor, Canada and LA for a few months.
The grand door opens onto a wide lane paved with hand-cut Santa Barbara Stone, leading from a tree arch to the main residence.
Behind the front doors is a library, cinema, spa and sauna – as well as 16 bathrooms.
Montecito is a popular area with celebrities, and Meghan and Harry have very famous neighbors – including many of their close friends.
His close friend Oprah Winfrey lives in a multimillion-dollar house nearby, with large lawns and stunning sea views.
