Manchester United fans criticized UEFA after Manchester City’s Kevin de Bruyne escaped a red card against Paris Saint-Germain.
The 30-year-old Belgian got yellow to catch Idrissa Goi from her roots – yet Aaron Van Basaka was sent for a similar challenge.
Van-Basaka, 23, was shown red two weeks ago after catching a young boys player with a similar challenge in a Champions League match.
But de Bruyne escaped with just one reservation, although the VAR checked referee Carlos del Cerro Grande’s preliminary decision.
And United fans on social media criticized UEFA for its lack of consistency, with a tweet: “Why not de Bruyne?
“Surely it was no different from Van Basaka’s challenge?”
Another wrote: “When de Brucen didn’t turn red when Van-Basaka had a pretty much the same challenge out of me.
“Where’s the consistency?”

And one supporter asked: “How was De Bruyne not sent for that? How?
“VAR is very contradictory! Van-Basaka was sent for a similar solution, no questions asked. Incredible!”
But de Bruyne failed to take advantage of his holiday as Man City lost 2-0 to Park des Princes on Tuesday evening.
Former Premier League star Idris Goi and Barcelona legend Messi’s goal earned all three PSG points.
As a result, Man City finished third in their Champions League group when Club Brugge beat RB Leipzig 2-1.
