An East End road will remain closed for several months to allow for £ 700,000 bridge improvement work.
Bell Street will be closed from October 18 to April 1 next year, with Motorcycle Little Dohl, Gilgate, High Street and vice versa.
Residents and businesses in the area have been advised of the work by Network Rail, which will include repairing and repainting old paint as well as steelwork outside the structure.
The investment is part of a broader structural modernization program aimed at protecting and improving Scotland’s railways.
“Our work on Bell Street will not only increase the lifespan of the bridge but also help us run a safe and reliable railway through Glasgow,” said Stephen O’Rourke, Network Rail’s scheme project manager.
To complete this project as soon as possible and safely, we need to close the road under the bridge to traffic. Road closures mean we can do these things with minimal disruption and inconvenience to the community.
“We are grateful for the patience of the community as we work to improve.”
Before starting work, NetworkRail has organized an online public information event to give members of the public the opportunity to ask questions directly to project team members.
Members of the public can book a slot by visiting the dedicated project website at https://scotlandsrancil.com/projects/bell-street/events.
