Craig Brown is behind Steve Clarke after criticism from the Scottish boss.
Poor performance in the euro and then Weekly defeat at the hands of Denmark.
But the former. Scotland Boss Brown was immediately defending it.
Speaking at the Russell Anderson Foundation Golf Day, Brown said: “I’m a big supporter of Steve and the fans have bought him.
“I used to be a big supporter of Gordon Strachan and Alex McLeish, but they didn’t have the quality of players.
“When I was the manager, I had Paul Lambert, who won the Champions League, and the old firm was in the European final.
“Celtic and Rangers are nowhere near the European final. It’s not the manager, it’s the standard he’s working with.
Now the quality has improved a lot and the players are coming from the top teams of England. Players like Andy Robertson, Scott McTomney and Karen Terney.
“Steve has come in for a bit of criticism, but he’s a great manager.
“I have not heard a single player complain about what is happening to the Scottish team.
“Tartan will also pick up the Army team and go about their routine in Hampden against Moldova.
“We’ll get better and a loaded hamper will help us do that.”
While Simon Donnelly wants to see a positive selection for Scotland tonight – and Andy Robertson on the left.
Former international Donnelly worked with Robo during his career as Dundee United No. 2.
Now he believes the Liverpool star should return to his normal position.
Previous Celtic “We have to try to get Andy back on the right side of the pitch,” said Scotland’s Donnelly.
“Bringing Stephen O’Donnell and Nathan Peterson back to the right will definitely help.
“I definitely think we have to play an attacking team against Moldova. We have to give them something to worry about.
“The second night in Denmark, they got off to a great start with waves of attack and two quick shots. I had the worst fear.
“The only positive thing you can possibly get is that the roof didn’t come in.
“We stopped the flow but it didn’t look like we were going to get into the game at all. The damage was done.
“We need a lot of positivity in team selection this time. We are not a good team to miss our most important players.
