Barcelona’s new signatories arrive in the Catalan capital for a medical and first training session.

The fifth and final signing of Barcelona’s summer transfer window, Lok de Jong, has arrived in the Catalan capital and is expected to start training with his new teammates on Monday.

The Catalan club sent Sergio Aguero on a free transfer and was expected to fill the gap left by Luis Suarez from last season. But the sudden departure of Lionel Messi left Barcelona in a brief attack and manager Ronald Koeman was anxious to bring another.

Barcelona were linked with Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick O’Brien and Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix, but in the end On the last day of the transfer, a loan was arranged for De Jong from Sevilla.. The La Liga club’s need to lighten their wage bill saw Anton Griezmann return to Atletico on the last day of the transfer window.

Koeman accepted the arrival of the 31-year-old Dutchman when it became clear that Barcelona did not have the funds to attract any top players this summer. Koeman has worked with De Jong during his time with the Dutch national team and it is hoped that he can form a strong partnership with Memphis Depp.

According to Barca Bloggreens.De Jong arrived in Barcelona on Sunday and will undergo a mandatory medical check-up on Monday morning before joining his new colleagues for a later training session. The striker is expected to face Sevilla on Saturday after the RFEF rejected a proposal to postpone the game.

De Jong scored just four goals in 34 La Liga games for Sevilla last season, and will need Kieman when the campaign resumes this weekend after an international break. Barcelona lost Messi and Griezmann during the transfer window and will be without Osman Dembele, Ansoufati and Aguero, who are out of injury.

Martin Braithwaite, who started Barcelona’s first three games, is still in doubt after an injury against Getafe. The striker missed both Denmark’s World Cup qualifiers against Scotland and the Faroe Islands.

De Jong is likely to include compatriot Depp in the forward line, with Philippe Coutinho also expected to return to Barcelona’s game against Sevilla if he goes ahead at the Ramon Sanchez-Pejuan Stadium on Saturday.
