A man has been arrested after an M8 crash near Glasgow that killed three people.

Police Scotland Revealed that the 35-year-old man has been charged with “road traffic crime”.

We had earlier reported that three people were killed in the early morning crash, meanwhile, five others are in hospital with serious injuries.

A blue Audi Q7 left the M8.

Emergency services were called to the scene this morning at 5:05 p.m.

Two people, aged 27, and one, 31, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Westbound carriageway is closed while police are investigating the collision.

Darren Cook, Inspector of Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of those who lost their lives in the accident.

We are currently conducting inquiries to establish a complete situation around the incident and we are seeking the help of the public to assist in our investigation.

“Even though it happened early in the morning, we’re sure there may be other road users who can help with our inquiry.”

“I will ask if you were driving in the area at the time of the incident or maybe you can come forward and talk to the officers.
